Grocery's Gone Again ?

02.18.05 (4:17 pm)   [edit]

Hasen't it been abhorrent to watch the price of ones favorite crackers spiral uncontrolably beyond ones Grocery Price Cap. Yes the  G.P.C.

In our household, groceries are becoming a very costly column in the family ledger almost to the point of saying we need to alter our eating  habits or alter the $ amount spent-like budgeting our own GPC!!~
I never would not have figured $200.00 a week was around the bend in spending on food, with our family getting smaller and three less mouths to feed....BUt,
It is drawing closer, I was analizing our tab from a almost daily run to the Super market the other day and realized that most items on there cost about $5.00ea,
(enter the GPC)  but then - we all had our free lunch a few years back .   Hay!
Bless those parents of ours, they also had it tough too and they loved and protected us, that got us where we are today, and we loved - it .

Thank-you,  Mom & Dad xoxo.

p.s. learn to like kd, and Newfy steak!

OUR HERO'S

02.16.05 (4:09 pm)   [edit]

I was thinking about the changes we all have experienced since the 911 disaster and I think most of us have realized we have had a shift in our real life heros.
Now we have more respect for those who put their life in harms way every darn day for us, the average citizen.
Actually we may have thought -in the past- that some of our heros were the athletic types who played some game, maybe hockey or whatever and get payed millions to do that.
BUT Now we are all not so apt to feel like paying the tab for the wine-ers who do little else than line they're own pockets and care less for the sportsmanship or ethic of the game they represent, let alone the fans who spend their hard earned cash, just for a little time to blow off some steam ..
Now we have a different lense to view these people viewable  ;public types who dummy - up to the watering trough, when times get tough.
Like when was the last time you heard of some hockey team going into a burning building and pulling out a servivors or saving someones life in some domestic dispute???

Well actually I can remember only once where a team was honered for pulling some lady from a burning building (The Edm Eskimos) AND I WAS IMPRESSED.
I think our Support people Policemen & Firemen are paid to little to guard out life and liberty and don't get enough PUBLIC or PRIVATE support for all they do, they are truely my "Heros"

Hate those Cats

02.14.05 (8:31 pm)   [edit]

Just tody this Naughty cat runs out in front of our car ... in the down town area,   My wife freeks out on me as if I can't see what's happening..
don't the owners of these dumb ass cats care if they get run-over???
Why don't they put them on a leash or tie them up or put them in a cage?   LOL
These cats never seems to realize they came within a zillionth of a second of being squished like a bug !! they Just wiggle thier asses over to the bushes and lay down in somebody else's flower yard..
Actually I don't like cats much,  as you may have figured out, I must have been a dog in my past life or something.
Please help my warm heartlessness< ha ha>as my warped thinking has lots of people around here thinking I'm too tough on them,  they're so loveable and cudly ? go figure ??  grrrrrr
I say if they're so smart, why haven't they been called "Man's best Friend"
 Slade xo

Bar-B -QUE TIME

02.11.05 (4:05 pm)   [edit]

It is about time to fire up the 0ld burner for the first time since last fall !!
Which remindes me of a Joke ::
It seems this guy was going to try skydiving for the first time.
He went and had his flight training and was set to giver his best go...
He was up in the plane at 10.000 feet and his time to jump was up, and out he jumps.
On his way down he  he looks around and to his surprize he sees another guy on his way UP !!
So he shouts over to the guy "Know anything about Parachutts"?

T he Other Guy shouts back " You know anthing about  Bar B Ques" ?
 ha ha

Seems this first firing is a little like that, but I hope the winter has been mild enough not to have wrecked the valves and such, usually she goes on the first pull and then all I worry about is Don't burn the Steak or throw it through the grates into the ashes .  ha ha
 what do you figure??

Ash Wednesday.

02.10.05 (5:36 pm)   [edit]

Yes Yesterday was That special day for Christians around the world, so Mom and I decieded to go down to CTK High to be at the celebrstion with the boys, that was to take place in the Gym...
And as things started, the Priest who is a youthfull, well respected man of about 28 years - decieded to have a impromptu skit of the Garded of Eaden acted out by six students -- I think that everyone was pleasantly surprized of how the remainder of the mass evolved and what they had all learned about who they were,  and where they are going and how easy it was to learn something that is so basic to us all " from ashes we came and to ashes we shall return" very short and sweet !!!
 GOD BLESS YOU  ALL.

Yada Yada Yada

02.07.05 (6:50 pm)   [edit]

Now I Just watched this show Where this was Jerry's favorite saying ,
it was so funny!  some  writers can make those actors look so good.
As for me Laughter is best, here's one....

This guy was lost on this Island for a long time ...he gets so darn hungry he sees this bald eagle...being so famished he throws a rock at it

and gets lucky, killing and eating it.
Before long he gets rescued, ..but they notice the remains of the bird and he gets charged for killing a protected bird.
At the court, the judge ruled this was a special situation and lets the guy go......but before he walks out the judge asks " by the way, what did the bald eagle taste like" ?
the fellow replys," somewhere between the flavor of a Whooping crane  and a spotted owl"..

The Proper Diets

02.04.05 (12:06 pm)   [edit]

I have been looking at the food Pyramid.
There may be a new food pyramid coming that will suggest people eat more fish and other foods with healthy fats but cut back on foods such as potato chips that have harmful trans fats.
After All this deciefering and I have figured out if a person like me would just eat slower.  .  .  .  I could eliminate the stuffed overfull feelings of eating to fast, & posibly because of not eating often enough, I decieded to always carry a protien bar in my Pocket for between meal snacks.
And for childern to Never to offer food as a reward for good behavior.  ( Wanna head to McDonalds afterward for a supersize McRib!) ! LOL
It all seems too simple but I think it's worth a try and maybe I can learn something for like a body for life !

Hear Hear these  are some tips;from my Daughter, she's a nutritionalist at heart >>>> A serving of most fruits and vegtables is equal to a half cup. A meat serving is the size of your PALM *not including fingers* and the carb serving should be equivalent in size to the meat serving.
Drink fluids 30 minutes before and after your meal to prevent dilution of your stomach acids and indigestion.
How's that for a quick lesson???

Traffic Report

02.02.05 (3:54 pm)   [edit]

 Hello out there,
Man was the traffic cork-cer in big E yesterday. Some six light intersections on the way out of there at 5:00pm.
The Dr's report was a good one.
He gave me some eye drops and wants more pictures of the inside next week, as the pressure in that healing eye is a little higher than normal, he says-- no problem.
Actually we have a heath system that makes the patient have to have lots of patience!! ha ha
